Kulgam, Jan 22 (KNO): Multiple forest fires, driven by strong winds, erupted at multiple locations across the Kashmir Valley, officials said on Thursday.
High-velocity winds are rapidly spreading wildfires in several areas, officials told the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO), particularly in south Kashmir.
Mohammad Ashraf Katoo, Divisional Forest Officer (DFO) Kulgam, who is holding additional charge of Anantnag, said that forest fires are raging at two locations in Anantnag district—Manzmoh and Verinag—while three spots in Kulgam district, including Lammer, Akhal and Pranhal have also been affected.
He said teams of the forest department have been pressed into service and efforts are underway to contain the blaze—(KNO)
